Sorry, it's taken me so long to update the July list of events. I just gave birth to a healthy baby boy last month and we've been adjusting to take care of an active toddler and newborn while still recovering from postpartum. It's been an exciting summer for us!

This summer has a lot of neat things to do. I really recommend traveling to Columbia to make a visit at the Riverbanks Zoo (Columbia Zoo) because they just opened a really large kid's play area in the garden that includes a splash pad! It's only a 1 hour and 30 minute drive from Florence! Check out other things to do in Columbia in my 'day trips' page.

Lynches County Riverpark also hosts a lot of fun events during the summer and their splash pad is now open as well! To see the hours and address of Lynches County Riverpark in Coward (about 30 min drive from West Florence), go to the 'events' page here and scroll down. Cost is $3 per kids and free for adults going with their children.

Depending on where you live in Florence, the splash pad in Hartsville called "Piratesville" might be closer to you than the Lynches County Riverpark splash pad. This Hartsville splash pad is much newer than the one in Lynches County Riverpark. Cost is $4 for kids and $2 for adults. Go to the event page to see hours and and address of this location.

Downtown Florence also hosts First Fridays, Third Thursdays and Last Fridays during the summer time. All three take place in downtown and kids are allowed to come but usually at the end of the night, it can get really loud and noisy with a lot of people drinking. Depending on how your kids can tolerate the noise and how little they are, you might want to come earlier in the night. They always have free entertainment with bands playing and food available for purchase. The Last Friday event is always the largest because it is a block party on Dargan St.

Have a great July and wear sunscreen!
